OUR VISION

Who We Are
At Cradle Indy, we believe every baby deserves to celebrate their first birthday—and every family deserves a village that helps make that possible.
We’re not just another initiative. We are the infrastructure that turns good intentions into coordinated action. Rooted in Marion County and backed by trusted institutions, we unite healthcare professionals, grassroots leaders, faith communities, and everyday citizens into a movement that saves lives.
Infant mortality is not someone else’s issue—it’s a reflection of how we care for one another. That’s why we’re building something stronger than any single program: a connected community where resources, relationships, and responsibility come together to support families from cradle to thriving.
Why Cradle Indy was Formed
Cradle Indy was born out of urgency, heartbreak—and hope.
Marion County has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the state, and Indiana consistently ranks among the worst in the nation. But these numbers are more than statistics—they’re stories, families, and futures cut short.
Since 2014, dedicated leaders and organizations have worked to raise awareness and push for change. Cradle Indy builds on that legacy by creating something new: a unified strategy to align efforts, scale what works, and drive measurable results where they matter most.
We exist because fragmented efforts, no matter how well-meaning, are no longer enough. Cradle Indy is where collaboration becomes transformation—and where hope becomes action.
How Cradle Indy Works
Our Philosophy
We believe in collective power.
No one organization can fight against infant mortality alone. That’s why we embrace a collective impact model—bringing together partners across sectors to work from one playbook.
Cradle Indy acts as the backbone of this work. We:
Unify stakeholders across health systems, nonprofits, government, and neighborhoods
Coordinate resources so families experience seamless care and consistent support
Share data and insights that inform real-time decisions and drive accountability
Mobilize funding and attention to scale what’s working—and stop what’s not
From hospital rooms to barbershops, boardrooms to baby showers, our network is growing. We help connect the dots so families don’t fall through the cracks.
This work is powered by our founding partner, IU Health, and supported by over 100 collaborators who believe, like we do, that saving lives starts with working together.
Funding
Our work would not be possible without the support of our sponsor, IU Health. We are grateful to work with such an important community organization.
