Working Together to Empower Parents
So Every Baby in Indianapolis Sees Their 1st Birthday
Serving Marion County Families since 2022
Who We Are
At Cradle Indy, we know the importance of a village. That’s why we partner with local organizations in our fight against infant mortality in Marion County, Indiana. Together, we form a village and help Indianapolis families find the information and resources they need so that all Marion County babies can celebrate their first birthdays.
Why Cradle Indy was Formed
Cradle Indy was formed because we believe we can imagine a better world together. Infant mortality in Marion County remains higher than the national average. In 2020, a year in which Indiana had the ninth-highest infant mortality rate in the county, Marion County zip codes accounted for the largest share of those deaths. We center our work on those with the highest rates: 46218, 46219 and 46201. Since 2014, Marion County leaders and organizations have been working to raise awareness of infant mortality in our county. We honor those who have been doing this work and wish to join forces to create an even stronger defense against this crisis. Let’s create a better world together.
Our Vision
Every child in Marion County, Indiana will live to see their first birthday.
How Cradle Indy Works
Our Philosophy
We can’t do it alone. No one can. Embracing a collective impact framework, we partner with others in Marion County who are dedicated to helping our babies reach their first birthdays by creating a sustainable, cohesive network of resources. Our partners include organizations, government agencies, employers, healthcare providers, community groups, and passionate individuals already working to reduce the infant mortality rate in Marion County.
Funding
Our work would not be possible without the support from our various sponsors. We are grateful for their ongoing support and dedication to our mission. Cradle Indianapolis is also currently funded through the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families’ 2023 Congressionally Directed Community Projects program (award number: 90XP0539-01-00) which was obtained through an appropriations request to Congressman André Carson.
Cradle Indy continues to seek funding from individual and institutional donors. If you are interested in learning more about how you or your organization can support this important work, please reach out to Clark Collier at ClarkC@cicf.org.
